Travel nurse

November 4th, 2009

Well, with Ben out of work, I’ve been doing a lot of something I hadn’t done in quite a while…researching jobs and reading the classifieds. The one thing I’ve quickly determined is that Ben is in the wrong field of work. When Nick was small, we talked about him going to school, possibly for a career as an LPN. I sure do wish now that we’d gone through with that idea. Nursing appears to be where it’s at. Not only is that one of the only things to be found in the local papers, but there’s even websites devoted to finding a job in nursing. You can even become a Travel Nurse…this site will even find you a job in another country, if you’re interested. A job and the chance to see the world…like I said, I think we’re in the wrong profession here. Maybe there’s still time to send him back to school.

The other thing that I’ve noticed while reading the classifieds lately, is that there are more people advertising that they’re looking for a job than there are actual ads for jobs. And they have them all mixed up, at least in the Charlotte Sun online. I find that frustrating. It seems like the “position/job wanted” section should be separate, not part of the “help wanted” section. Of course, maybe it’s listed that way to at least give the appearance that there are some jobs out there.
